About skating with us

Are you interested in getting fit, having fun and meeting a whole new bunch of amazing people? We’re looking for new skaters aged 18+ to join our league.

We teach skating skills and the basics of roller derby.

Take a look at our recruitment video below or read on to find out more.

What’s included?

Skates and pads can be borrowed, subject to availability, thanks to support from Dacorum Borough Council.  Borrowing kit is £10 suggested donation and helps us cover the cost of replacing worn out kit.

How much does it cost?

Our sessions are priced to be affordable while providing the league with vital funds to cover hall hire and equipment costs. Coaching is carried out by experienced league skaters but is all completely voluntary.

If you have any questions please contact recruitment@hertsrd.co.uk.

Is roller derby right for me?

The fabulous thing about roller derby is that it’s such an inclusive sport ‐ there is a place for everybody, no matter what your age (as long as you’re over 18), gender, body shape, fitness level, or skating ability is. Our current members are aged between 18 and 46 with occupations such as full‐time mums, police, teachers, students and accountants!

Although the league competes as a female team, we do also welcome all skaters who want to train with us for roles such as referees.
