Is roller derby right for me?

The fabulous thing about roller derby is that it’s such an inclusive sport ‐ there is a place for everybody, no matter what your age (as long as you’re over 18), body shape, fitness level, or skating ability is. Our current members are aged between 18 and 46 with occupations such as full‐time mums, police, teachers, students and accountants!

Although the league is predominantly made up of women, and we compete as a female team, we do also welcome male skaters who want to train with us for roles such as referees.

Book your place now or add yourself to the Facebook event for updates.

Why join HRD’s Fresh Meat Course?

Hertfordshire Roller derby has run seven courses over the last four years, and our last course was fully booked. Over that time we have improved and refined the course based on member feedback, so that we can provide the best experience for our newest recruits.

HRD is welcoming and supportive. We motivate, we inspire, and we achieve, and whether the wins are big or small, personal or as a team, we celebrate them.

“When I began I had no idea how to skate, I could barely even stand on skates. The whole team is amazingly supportive and they’ve taught me from the basics up. “ ‐ Bull DozeHer, Fresh Meat 2015

Although training takes place in Hemel Hempstead, skaters travel from all over Hertfordshire including Borehamwood, Croxley Green, Harpenden, Hatfield, Hertford, Radlett, Rickmansworth, St Albans, Stevenage, Ware, Watford and Welwyn Garden City. One of our skaters even travels from central London!
