Hell’s Belles Win First Game of the Season

Belles vs Sirens March 2016

Saturday 12th March saw Hell’s Belles take on the Seaside Sirens, followed by the hosts, Roller Derby Leicester, taking on The Concrete Cows at The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre in Leicester.

Hell’s Belles vs Seaside Sirens

The first bout of the day saw our Hell’s Belles take on the Seaside Siren Roller Girls. This was the first game for the Belles in British Championships Tier 3 East Division, but the second game for the Sirens who won their first game against the Norfolk Brawds in February.  Not only was this bout special as the Hell’s Belles’ first in the season, but because it was the first time Lady Foxley and Miss GoreGeous played for the team!

There were constant lead changes throughout and tensions were high. Half time saw Sirens ahead with 94 to Hell’s belles 85 – scores remained this close for most of the game!

In the final 4 minutes the Belles took the lead with 189 to the Sirens 182. Over the final few jams the Belles really pushed themselves and called their jams early to prevent any point scoring by the opposition. The crowd was going crazy!

The final score saw the Hell’s Belles take the win with 217 against the Seaside Siren’s with 186.
